  • HOW CAN I APPLY?

  • WHEN IS THE NEXT POLICE EXAMINATION?

    • Saturday - April 5, 2025​
       

  • ​IS THERE AN EXAM FEE?

    • No, ​there is no fee to take the MPPD Officer Examination
       

  • DO I NEED TO LIVE IN MOUNT PROSPECT TO BE AN OFFICER?

    • No.  Officers need only to live in State of Illinois
       

  • IF I MAKE THE ELIGIBILITY LIST, HOW LONG WILL THAT LAST?​

    • 2 years​
       

  • HOW MANY OFFICERS WORK FOR MPPD?​

    • The Mount Prospect Police Department is authorized 90 Sworn officers​

  • IS THERE A RESTRICTION ON TATTOOS OR BODY PIERCINGS?

    • Officers may display visible tattoos, body art, or markings while on-duty.  The below are prohibited by department policy:​

      • Any marking, tattoo, or body art located on the head, face, neck (above the collarbone or shirtline),ears, or hands (below the wrist bone). Tattoos, body art, or other markings that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or sexually explicit material.​

  • DOES CORRECTION EXPERIENCE SATISFY THE 2 YEARS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE?

    • No, applicants are required to have a valid State of Illinois Law Enforcement Certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as a law enforcement officer.​
